Job brief:
As a Senior Solution Architect with a focus on platform improvements, you will be responsible for optimizing and evolving our OpenShift infrastructure, ensuring the platform remains scalable, resilient, and aligned with business objectives. You’ll leverage your expertise in Openshift, containerized environments, and Java development to propose and implement changes that improve performance, reliability, security, and overall operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
• Platform Optimization: Lead the continuous improvement of OpenShift environments, focusing on automation, scalability, and performance tuning. Identify areas for improvement and propose strategic solutions to enhance the platform’s capabilities.
• Architecture Evolution: Design and implement architectural improvements to the OpenShift platform, ensuring it supports evolving business needs, technical requirements, and user experience.
• Operational Excellence: Improve deployment pipelines, monitoring, and maintenance practices to ensure high availability, efficient resource utilization, and reduced downtime across OpenShift clusters.
• Automation & CI/CD: Drive the implementation and improvement of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), automated testing, and continuous delivery pipelines for OpenShift-based environments, utilizing tools like Terraform, Ansible, Helm, Tekton, ArgoCD and Github Enterprise
• Capacity Planning & Scaling: Conduct performance evaluations and scaling exercises to ensure OpenShift clusters can handle growing workloads and maintain high efficiency.
• Security Enhancements: Implement and refine security protocols within the OpenShift platform, focusing on container security, role-based access control (RBAC), and compliance.
• Collaboration with Teams: Work closely with development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to identify bottlenecks and areas where the platform can be improved to deliver faster, more reliable solutions.
• Innovation & Best Practices: Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies. Introduce new ideas and frameworks that can enhance platform performance
• Platform Upgrades: Plan and execute major upgrades to the OpenShift platform, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum benefit to the client’s operations.
• Mentorship & Training: Guide and mentor junior team members on platform optimization best practices, helping build a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
• Consulting: Collaborate directly with development tems to understand their business requirements and provide tailored technical solutions.
• Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, deployment guides, and operational procedures.
• Innovation: Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in containerization, Kubernetes, OpenShift, and cloud technologies to suggest and implement improvements
Required skills and Experience:
• Experience: Minimum 8 years of experience in IT, with at least 5 years focused on Kubernetes, OpenShift, and containerization technologies.
• Expertise in OpenShift: Deep hands-on experience designing, deploying, and managing OpenShift clusters in production environments.
• Cloud-Native Technologies: Strong understanding of cloud-native application architectures, microservices, and container orchestration.
• Openshift Knowledge: Expertise in Openshift and container management, including monitoring, scaling, and security best practices.
• Automation Tools: Proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible), CI/CD tools (e.g., Tekton, ArgoCD, Github Enterprise, and configuration management tools (e.g., Helm).
• Cloud Platforms: Proficiency with major cloud platforms (focus on Azure but AWS is also welcome) and hybrid-cloud architectures.
• Security Focus: Solid understanding of security principles in containerized environments (e.g., network policies, RBAC, secrets management).
• Leadership: Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and guide technical teams.
• Certifications: OpenShift certification (e.g., Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration) or equivalent is preferred.
Desired Skills:
• Experience with Red Hat OpenShift Service on Azure (ARO)
• Familiarity with the GitHub Enterprise toolstack
• Strong scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation and troubleshooting.
• Experience with security tools (e.g., Redhat Advanced Cluster Security, Azure Defender, Jfrog XRay).
• Java Development: background in Java development, with hands-on experience in building cloud-native Java applications that integrate seamlessly with OpenShift and Kubernetes environments.
